Pan-hysterectomy for Closed Pyometra in a Dog

Pyometra is infection of the uterus with presence pus inside uterus. A 2.5 years old intact female dog weighing 25 kgs was presented a history anorexia and pain on palpation thoraco-abdominal region. On physical examination, abdomen tensed. Lateral abdominal radiography ultrasonography performed diagnosed as pyometra which closed-cervix type. Pan-hysterectomy under general anesthesia treatment to save animal. Post-operatively animal antibiotics anti-inflammatory drugs for 5 days kept fluid therapy 3 days. The pet had an uneventful recovery.
